Computer Problems

My computer up to yesterday was free of any virus and spyware. Using Mozilla Firefox, Spybot and Ad-aware made sure of that. Yesterday though, I tried to get a new icon for my AIM profile, and I dowloaded this application from this good looking website.
I was a little wary of an application being downloaded when all I had wanted was an icon but I ran it anyway. It installed a lot of junk on my computer, including DVMlite which doesn't want to go away, as well as CoolWWWsomething, which i can't get rid off either.
I try to run some diagnostic software that I found on a trustworthy site, and now I can't use Windows Explorer anymore. Windows Explorer is the interaction interface of XP, and so my computer is disabled.
Pity because the sun is out, temperatures have risen and I wanted to go take some nice photos of the outside world. I won't be able to post them until my computer is fixed. And there is always the likelihood that I will lose everything.

Any ideas from the IT experts would be welcome.

PS: If I have sent you anything with attachments in the last couple of days, do not open them.

Hey, good to hear from you (finally...!). I would say that you are crazy,, taking five subjects, but then again, I have to remember that you are Albert and these things come naturally to you.

Things here are going fine, a few things to tell you:

My mate Iain from high school, who has played soccer a couple of times and is friends with Pete Donaldson, had his 21st a week ago, and it was good for me to catch up with some of my high school friends again.

I had brunch on Friday with Annastasia, a girl who Rohan knows from uni and he is actually quite keen on her. Joey and I went out with the two of them, partly to meet her, and partly to try to encourage him to ask her out again. He has once, but she was on the rebound and told him "not right now". So I say now is now. Anyway, if you want to get a bit of a feel for her, she posts on my blogging system, at http://www.livejournal.com/users/annastasia_lives. She writes very nice poetry and is quite a strong Christian, which I admire her for. She really is a lovely girl, and I will post to you (and not on my own, where he will read it) that I would really like it if he could hook up with her, because I think she would do him a whole world of good.

Speaking of romance, (how) are things going with Hayley (I have a bad feeling I spelled that wrong, oops)?

I have no suggestions with the wormy-spyware-computery shit, largely due to the fact that I have no knowledge of computers past the on-off button. Try Ian or Nicole though.

Where in Australia are your mates coming to? And are they doing the same thing that you did, coming over to study for a period of time? There would definitely be good and bad places to go if coming over here for an exchange.

A question for you: How the hell did you post pictures from your camera onto this? I know it's probably different formatting than my blog, but Joey can't figure out how to get them on without putting them on another website. Is there a special trick that you can do? I got a camera for Christmas (I may have told you that already) but can't do anything with the pictures...!

Did you know that you are going to be spending your 21st overseas? We will have to throw you something when you get back... maybe you can share a piece of mine and Krissy's joint party mid-August, if you like. We decided to do that because neither of our parents are throwing anything for our friends, and we would like to do something with them, so we'll see how we go. Still a while before then yet.

Anyways, enough rambling for now. Good to hear from you and keep me posted.

Alyssa,

I have been looking at Annastasia's lj, and I have to ask: did you make that comment that so bothered her? I read a few of her posts and she seems interesting. A confused hardcore christian I would say, but I am sure Rohan will do her some good, although she seems a little reluctant at this point. Maybe if he acted a bit standoffish, that would help.
Here everything is rather good; only problem is my computer. I am posting on castlecops -- i give them logs of my problems and they try to fix them with me.

For photoblogging, that is a good feature of the service I use. Search the live journal databases to find out if you can do it. If there is nothing there, look around on other people's blogs and ask them how they did it.

My mates are going to Wollongong; spending a year there. They wanted to go there because of a racing car project the uni excels at.

Here a 21st is a big deal, so it is like I will have had two 18th birthdays. But I don't think we should mix my birthday with you girls'. With two of you, the occasion is big enough.
