Fraser Island

I've just put up a series of photos on Fraser. We went there last week for three nights . Fraser island is the world's largest sand island. It has more sand than the Sahara, and has more than half the perched lakes in the world. I am missing photos of lake Boomanjin, eery and quiet, and Lake Mackenzie, popular with its crystal clear water and white sand beaches.
From the left, you can see:
Fabien -- the son of my cousin
Chris -- the boyfriend of my sister
Arthur -- my little brother
Pacome -- my cousin (not on the same side as Fabien) Posted by Picasa

Fabien fetches frisbee

Having just bought a frisbee, Fabien managed to throw it on the roof. No problemo: back the car near the roof, and it's a short hop onto the burning tin. Posted by Picasa

Waiting for the ferry

We've just let air out of the tyres. We're ready to roll. Posted by Picasa

Arthur expresses himself

It's not easy being seventeen, the youngest of the group by some years. Arthur has decided how he will get heard, or seen... Posted by Picasa

First night: setting up camp

We arrived late into our campsite. Arthur and Pacome didn't really know how to set up their tent, or what they could do to set up camp, Fabien was going around the camp performing enigmatic rituals and keeping us all at bay, Chris was looking for a stick for his swag, and I was taking a photo. We got much better over the trip, but our first night was truly disorganised. Posted by Picasa

First night camp

Everyone was asleep but us, talking, laughing for the hours. And then we realised that it was 10 pm. 10 pm!!! We couldn't believe it, a matter of changing rhythm from the city to the bush. Posted by Picasa

Day Two

Someone's up and it's neither Chris nor me. He's in the swag; I'm in the mossie tent, in my favourite position when I don't have a pillow. Posted by Picasa

Driving to Lake Wabby

A good view of Fraser's road. Deep sand, holes everywhere, lined with vegetation. Posted by Picasa

Lake Wabby and the sea beyond.

The setting of the next few photos. Posted by Picasa

Over Lake Wabby

Carrying the camera, few photos of me are ever taken. This is courtesy of Pacome. He's a great point and shooter. Posted by Picasa

Second night camp -- beach

The beach right next to our campsite in the evening. At night we could see just a lot of stars. The moon had the thinnest crescent. Posted by Picasa
